Fuue Designs

More character design adjustments for Seeing Red. Fuue's design has been refined more than the others, but it has always bothered me that he's such a pretty boy, face-wise. His nose in particular is just too small. He's biracial African-Asian, so I drew a few sketches of him emphasizing one or the other a bit more (Asian upper right, African lower left. I know his "African" hair is not exactly a good depiction of natural black hair--I was scribbling with no references, I apologize. ) In the end I decided his original balance of ethnic features was actually pretty good, but my art style now allows me to draw him with a larger nose and more of a square jawline while keeping him still recognizably himself.

I did take a bit of the curl out of his hair. The original design, which you can see below in the thumbnails, had very curly hair, but his hair is also very long and the weight pulls curls out. Fuue's ancestors are a bit more on the Asian side than the African side (he's lighter-skinned than Namino and a few other characters), so less curl and volume were adjustments that I made. I think thinning his hair out a bit and giving him slightly more emphasized African traits in his facial features has him looking just about how I imagine him. Fuue is 16, but he's also rather tall, so I gave him a slightly thicker neck and broader shoulders.
